A man who hears war in his dreams… A woman caught in silence… Black Boy & The War delves into the complicated relationship between one's self and their destiny. With the constant push and pull of love and society's power to make and unmake one's identity, this piece begs to question, “where will this Black Boy have to go to find his name?”

Coming together
These last few days have been a testimony to how dedicated our team is. We have added rehearsals to give us a bit more time to work on new material that is coming in. There was a few rounds of trial and error, and now we have complete arch that will make you beg for more! Marlena had a very successful first fitting. She has managed to make the actors look very powerful in their individual ways. Tonight we rehearsed at the theater for the first time and John was able to tape out the set so the actors could get a feel for it. Some staging had to get shifted, but it was all for the best. The Harlem School of the Arts Theater is really beautiful and I think it is a great space for this workshop production. After rehearsal tonight, Jonathan, John, Eric and I celebrated with unlimited pancakes while solving some staging problems with the syrup bottles. Looking for the final run before tech tomorrow afternoon...
